Nail files and buffs

Nail files and buffs

To create a flawless manicure and pedicure, specialists in the modern nail industry use professional tools, which include files and buffs. When choosing files and buffs, experts are guided by the abrasiveness they have, because their purpose depends on this. Files with more abrasiveness are suitable for natural nails, and with less abrasiveness for artificial nails. There is a conditional classification of files according to abrasiveness, which is given below:

  • • 60–80 grit files – designed for cutting artificial turf, since they have the hardest and roughest surface;
  • • files 100–150 grit - they have a less rough surface, but these files are intended only for artificial turf;
  • • files 150–240 grit – have medium hardness, used for both artificial coating and natural nails;
  • • files 180–240 grit – have a low degree of hardness, just like the previous one, used for both artificial and natural manicure;

Buffs and files with an abrasiveness of 800 grit are used exclusively for watering the nail plate.

Files and buffs differ from each other in shape and material from which they are made. Files come in either a wooden base, plastic or polyethylene foam. Buffs are most often made on a plastic, cotton base or polyethylene foam. The shape of buffs can be in the form of a bar or a rectangle, as a rule, they have a large volume, while files can be either rectangular or diamond-shaped, banana-shaped or triangular, this is done for ease of working with the tool.
